2005 · Action, Comedy, Romance · 91 min
Directed by Angela Robinson
IMDb 5.5RT 43%LB 3.7
Totally Spies meets private school plaid. Campy, queer, and an absolute blast! D.E.B.S. was heavily panned on release (Roger Ebert called it "no more than lesbian Angels"), but it has rightfully risen to cult classic status. The premise alone says a lot about the movie: embedded in the SAT is a secret test that determines your aptitude to be a spy. Can't miss!

💎Last Week's Gem
Ben-Hur
I caught Ben-Hur for the first time at Cinemark last week. Sitting at a whopping 212 minutes (sans overture, intermission, and entr'acte), Ben-Hur is an epic of massive proportions. At the time of release it was the most expensive film ever made, roughly $150M in today's dollars, and it shows. The costume design is stunning, the chariot race used over 15,000 extras, and the water scenes and opening starry night sequence are very special! Some stretches are slow, but if you're in the mood for old Hollywood epic, this delivers. Timely for Easter weekend too. And who knew Cinemark was showing stuff like this? Shoutout to Fathom's Big Screen Classics series for bringing these back.
