Weekly Newsletter|No. 12 — July 28, 2026
Hi FAB readers! It's nearly August, which means it's a time for change here in Boulder. Student leases turn over, Band on the Bricks closes down on Wednesday, and we finally take down that sign about not honking on Broadway (thank goodness, I've never wanted to honk more).

As change comes our way, I invite us to find a cozy theatre seat, take a deep breath, and let a story move through you. Your FAB picks this week explore identity, truth, and the search for meaning.
xoxo Jenn

I Saw the TV Glow I Saw the TV Glow
2024 · Horror, Drama · 100 min
Directed by Jane Schoenbrun
IMDb5.8RT85%LB3.5
I Saw the TV Glow is about two teenagers who bond over a late-night TV show, and what happens when the show starts to feel more real than their own lives. It's an existential horror film that really surprised me. I also love the soundtrack. It really makes me want to listen to Caroline Polachek, walk around high school hallways, and slam the lockers.

1950 · Crime, Drama, Mystery · 88 min
Directed by Akira Kurosawa
IMDb8.1RT98%LB4.2
Rashomon is a murder told from four different perspectives. It features Toshiro Mifune (hottie alert!) in a classic whodunnit whose structure has been copied by countless films and TV shows since. I have yet to see this one myself, and I'm hoping to catch it this week!

La Dolce Vita La Dolce Vita
1960 · Comedy, Drama · 174 min
Directed by Federico Fellini
IMDb8.0RT95%LB4.3
Federico Fellini's La Dolce Vita follows Marcello, a gossip columnist chasing celebrities across Rome. P.S. Marcello's photographer sidekick is named Paparazzo, and that's where the term paparazzi came from. P.P.S. Did you know this is also where The Suite Life of Zack and Cody got its title? P.P.P.S. That last one might not be true, but it's also probably true?
